Safety tips

youbloom is not for use by anyone under the age of 14

youbloom helps you to connect and interact with known and new friends locally and around the world. Your safety is very important to us, and we outline here some tips and guidelines to help protect your safety.

Internet Safety in General

In some ways, Cyberspace can be compared to traveling across a vast metropolis with similar, if less immediate, dangers but with significant differences. You may be fully aware of these as sound common sense, but, like airline safety information given before take-off, they should be considered and followed when using the Internet and youbloom.

Upon access/entry, you can become part of a huge, diverse community of users neither known nor seen. Communication, distances, information, and vast numbers of people can be accessed instantly. As with the physical world, you can leave footprints and records of your "travels" through what you make publicly available.

However, when danger is nearby we cannot see or detect it as we would with our eyes, ears, and senses in the physical world. Because of this you should always exercise care with the information and images you post publicly which might expose you to danger and/or embarrassment. Please see our Terms and Conditions policy on what can and cannot be posted to youbloom.com.

Don't mislead people and pretend to be older or younger

Your profile will be deleted if you are under 14 and pretend to be older or if you are over 18 and pretend to be younger to contact underage users.

Safety and your Password

Do not share your password with anyone, including friends. youbloom employees will only ask you for your password, email address, or other contact information when you are registering for youbloom or when they are working with you to resolve problems with site usage or participation in youbloom Services. Do not be fooled into disclosing your password if you are contacted by someone pretending to be from youbloom.

Friends, Strangers, and Safety

Be careful. You know your friends. People you don't know, strangers, aren't always who and what they say they are. Be careful adding strangers to your list of friends. It can be fun and interesting to connect with new friends from around the world. However, unless you fully know the other person avoid meeting them alone. If you feel you must meet with another person only do so with a friend or a trusted adult and in a public place.

Your Profile And youbloom Are Public Spaces

youbloom has many visitors/viewers each day and most of the people are good, just like the real world, but some may not be. So, please take care to protect yourself. You should not post anything you wouldn't want the world to know (e.g., personal information such as your phone number, address, IM screens name, or definitive whereabouts).

Avoid Embarrassment

Avoid the potential for later embarrassment, don't post anything such as information or images/photos you wouldn't want your parents or your boss to see! Remember, what you post will persist and often get distributed across the Internet.

Avoid Phishing Scams

By pretending to be a site you trust, phishing is a means used by fraudsters to try to get your personal information, such as your username and password Remember, youbloom employees will only ask you for your password, email address, or other contact information when you are registering for youbloom or when they are working with you to resolve problems with site usage or participation in youbloom Services.
