Daniel A. Savage

Daniel Savage
DANIEL SAVAGE has a 20 + year history of bridging the creative and commercial worlds, making deals and fostering relationships between them. His unique combination of having formal training in both business and music gives him uncommon insight and allows him to travel easily and effectively in both environments, whether it’s working with brand initiatives or artists (for whom he’s helped sell 25 million records).

Currently, Savage runs B Major Entertainment, a boutique, strategic marketing agency based in Los Angeles. Specializing in music and entertainment, with clients in both the creative and corporate worlds, B Major works with labels, artists, publishers, producers, production companies, songwriters, and brands/agencies.  From 2013 to 2015, he also served as Executive Vice President of Semetric, Inc., where he directed all Sales, Marketing and Business Development activities in the U.S. and Canada for the London-based music and entertainment industry analytics company.

His roots in the music industry are deep. As General Manager of Madonna’s Maverick Records, he worked with such artists as Alanis Morissette, Michelle Branch and Deftones and the soundtracks to “50 First Dates” and “The Matrix” II & III). He was also Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Synergy for the Walt Disney Company’s Hollywood Records, working extensively with ESPN, ABC, Radio Disney, Theme Parks, Buena Vista Pictures, and the Disney Channel. He has held executive positions at other major music companies including Island (Elton John, U2), Lava/Atlantic (Matchbox 20, Sugar Ray, Jimmy Page/Robert Plant), Mercury and PolyGram Group Distribution.

He started his music career as Head of Market Research for PolyGram Records, Inc. As such, he was an early pioneer in the use of quantitative and qualitative customer and industry trend data for making key decisions and long range strategic planning, in an industry used to relying largely on guesses and hype.

Previously, he was a Senior Account Executive for Edelman Public Relations’ Corporate/Financial Group. Savage is a trained musician, having studied at the Eastman School of Music and has worked at several publications as a music journalist. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University Business School. As an industry leader, Savage is often called upon to speak at conferences and has taught a course on the music business at UCLA Extension.
